The New Meaning of Affordable Public Housing in Singapore

If it’s real, you don’t have to keep repeating it everyday, everywhere. People are not dumb.

Had been seeing this full page ad almost every week on the main stream media – The Shit Times.

Following what I had written here and what others had said here.

Regardless of the opinions we have as citizens, the authority is as usual – super tone deaf; until the day they lost a GRC in the election, then all of them start to wayang saying they are servants and will be more understanding to ground sentiments.

Please lar, the fire had already burnt down the entire building by then.

Able to afford a loan or get a housing grant doesn’t mean it’s affordable

It is same as getting a job doesn’t mean I will become a millionaire. Or after queuing for hours at TOTO booth, doesn’t mean I will sure stike Group 1.

This government seems to think that as long as sinkies are able to get a housing loan and some grants, even a HDB that is priced close to $1M is still “affordable”. Hello, listen carefully, new 99-yr affordable HDB housing priced closed to \$1M leh.

Well, in that case, the Ferrari at the showroom selling for $1M is also affordable. Toyotas cars that priced at less than $200K are consider damn cheap.

Apart from helping to solve the housing issue, the only thing that we get to see everyday now is how these people are trying so hard to convince citizens that our HDB are really affordable.

Really? Almost half a million dollar for a 4-room HDB at NON-MATURED estate is affordable in 2022?

Then what about 2024 or 2026 when the same 4 room HDB became $600K? Is that also affordable?

At this moment of writing, some applicants for Central Weaves are already talking about selling their new BTO for $1.3M after MOP. Does that sound affordable?

With all the money going to housing, where got money left to bring babies to this world.
